Odyssey’s Debut Trailer Is Full Of Epic Action

If you’ve been having a tough time keeping up with all the E3 madness, it’s okay… you’re not alone. Thankfully, there are individual articles popping up to help give you a look at the different, noteworthy titles you’ll want to keep your eyes on as the flood of news emerges. In this particular case, it probably wouldn’t require much digging to find any kind of Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey news, because it’s an epic game and the trailers that were released are full of action.

The trailer walks gamers through the basic premise of the story, which centers around a male or female Spartan named Alexios or Kassandra, who lives a life of hardship and eventually becomes a mercenary. The story takes place in ancient Greece during the war between Sparta and the Athenians.

As a Spartan mercenary, players will interact with both sides of the conflict, and will — for the very first time in Assassin’s Creed history — be involved with making character decisions that shape the narrative of the protagonist(s). It’s definitely going to be different from Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate.

For instance, one of the new things that Ubisoft added to the game is being able to choose different dialogue options, which can affect the relationships that the main characters have with certain NPCs and other factions.

The game is jam packed with a ton of new and returning content, including the revival of naval combat from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag . They’ve also introduced all new ship dynamics, such as being able to ram ships up the middle and literally break them in half, along with some of the all new massive battle sequences, which were demonstrated in a second gameplay walkthrough video.

The video showcases some of the new dialogue, which will be able to shape the character development of Alexios or Kassandra, which Ubisoft has confirmed will also determine whether or not the two characters can find romance in addition to exacting revenge.

One of the other new features in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey is that the game will feature an all new 150 vs 150 army battle mode. The battle mode isn’t just removed from the player’s view like a real-time strategy game such as Total War . Players will actually be able to play through the battle sequences in real-time, fighting off the other army using their own skills and tactics.

Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey has been in development for more than three years, but, interestingly, enough it also captures many of the changes and updates that were delivered in Assassin’s Creed: Origins, such as the over-the-shoulder combat system, and the birds’ eye view through the use of the eagle.

The game is set to release on October 5th, 2018 later this year for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Pre-orders have opened up for the game over on the official website .
